Lets Help find Ruthe!

"Bob Loves Ruthe" was inscribed on one charm of the bracelet - another, the profile of a girl, is inscribed with the name "Marcie" and a birthdate. There are other charms mentioned - a sombrero, praying hands, a shamrock, a piano.

NPR carried a story today about a woman who, over 20 years ago, was returning from a European trip, when her carry-on bag was partially unpacked, the contents laid on a table, then repacked by security. When she arrived home there was something in her luggage that didn't belong to her, a charm bracelet. She called the airline, who told her it would be impossible to find the owner.

But all of these years, through multiple moves, she kept it. In those pre-connected days, finding Ruthe must have seemed hopeless. Recently, cleaning a closet she found it again, and contacted NPR radio who ran with the story, inviting Ruthe to contact them, identify the other charms, and reclaim her memory charm bracelet.

The women reading here will understand, but some of the men may not; so for those who don't - charm bracelets are usually memory tokens, with one charm bought to celebrate each very special event or love in a life. So this bracelet is filled with meaning, with love, with memories. It matters to Ruthe.

Lets not let NPR throw this story out on the wind alone! It is possible Ruthe doesn't listen to public radio - but somewhere out there in the Blogosphere, someone must know Ruthe with an e, loved by Bob, with a daughter named Marcie (or is it Marcy?).

If we all post the story, and our friends do too, Ruthe will be reunited with her bracelet - it's simply not possible that we can fail! This is a job for bloggers!

Will you post this story and the link to NPR? Will you pass this around faster and to more people than a meme, and help find her?

Copy this post - or write your own - send it to your friends, post it on your blog!

Update: Joe Loong, the editor at AOL journals, http://journals.aol.com/journalseditor/magicsmoke (May 4)
posted about this also, and recommended that we all use the tag, "Bob loves Ruthe" which will enable us to google and follow this. Duhh. Glad he suggested this! I used the tag, but the idea to use it as the tracking mechanism escaped me completely!

What a wonderful story. I'll post it on my blog and send the story via email.

I have had a charm bracelet for most of my life. My sister gave it to me. I've lost some of the charms over the years. I've replaced them and have given it to my daughter.

I'm amazed by how many people have been caught up in this story. It belongs to my husband's grandmother (mark july 1974) she's been reunited with her bracelet and has been pleased with the attention given to the story. My friend heard the piece on NPR, I connected the dots and Ruthe was introduced to Mary. It's a happy ending. Thanks for your well wishes.
