LEDs as Growlights...
Has anyone used them? Want to share your experience? I have an area in my mud room that I can use to grow some salad greens on a 3-shelf unit 48" long. There isn't enough light (I think) to really pull it off, so I need to use a Grow Light for a few hours a day to supplement it.

No but we use LEDs on stalks as reading lights in bed because they give out very little light, like a torch (which you call a flashlight). So I wonder if LEDs would emit enough of the required UV rays.
Perhaps you can find a website advising growers on using empty houses as secret hydroponic centres for producing skunk cannabis - a popular horticultural pastime over here, I understand.
too funny! my first thought when I heard about it is that LEDs will thwart the police who comb energy use records to find growers...
and yes, there are such websites, but I'm not clear that the growing goals are similar enough... lots of chat about whether or not you can produce "bud." Since all I want is greens and no "bud," the active chatter on the red/blue spectrum and which lights are best isn't very helpful.
i admire your strength in moving to a new place and setting up everything from scratch. can't stop reading your blog. ;)
i came over from paul martin's link.
and what a coincidence to find icylyrics on your blogroll too. i commented there ages ago as mistipurple. so we must have crossed paths then, and now, 'reunited' again at paul's. :)
tuti, thank you! Yes, I absolutely remember you as mistipurple! I guess the world is smaller than it seems.
Have you any idea what happened to icy? She was doing well, it seemed, and then she vanished. I hope she's just too happy/busy to have time to blog, or some such..... I liked her very much.
i hope icy is happy and settled in her new home. that was so long ago. i do miss her too. i looked through her archives and wondered when we connected. it was way back in 2005! no wonder she was so familiar.
it's good to catch you again too. :)
